To keep moving forward in life, there must be change - some happy, some sad. For us, this announcement is a little of both. We will be closing the OSNH shop within the next few months. Papa OSNH has taken a new job that will require 9 months of travel throughout the year...and Tamara is going with him (well, just to the fun destinations)! While Tamara will be experiencing new and exciting things, we decided it is time for us both to move on to new adventures.

A tad bittersweet, but mostly sweet, we are looking forward to what the next steps in life hold. Thanks for all of your support, kind e-mails and messages throughout the past 2 years. We have had an absolute blast along the way!

Tom Ford's foray into women's wear this coming spring is exciting. What's even more fun is that he's being so secretive about it. As he told WWD:

We love this Vogue UK spread from 2009 - for something that is obviously a high fashion editorial, the outfits in this spread would be easy to translate into real life...it's so refreshing to look in a magazine and see a look you aspire to and then realize it is attainable. Maybe not her wild hair, but the layering of simple, but interesting materials with opaque tights is definitely doable. We're also tempted to wear a button up shirt buttoned allll the way up with a cardi like in the second photo. Hope you have a lovely Friday, and don't forget about the SALE!

It's been an awesome year and we have great customers and fans to thank for that. Running a business when you don't exactly know what you're doing can be crazy, but we have enjoyed every minute of it. From the second we saw our very first order come through to having our husbands help tape and stack boxes to the ceiling in our living room (dining room, kitchen and hallways)...we would not take back this experience for anything. Running a small accessories business isn't easy, and it certainly won't make us millionaires (or even close) anytime yet. But we love what we do and it's absolutely worth it.

After perusing through the latest Lonny and Lucky magazines last night, I thought to myself, "oh no, red is coming back." I guess for the longest time, I've associated red with dining rooms in the 90s and cheap patent leather pumps. However, after a little thought, I realized - red can be good! Red lipstick, yes. Red nails, yes. But how about in the house? We certainly won't be painting any rooms this color, but this cute little alarm clock might shake things up a bit. And lastly, there are few things better than a red heart Moschino dress (on sale).

Cheap Trick

Just in case you're like us and have been admiring the A.R. Trapp Troubadour sunglasses at J.Crew for a while - well, we've got a cheap trick up our metaphorical sleeve. At first we couldn't justify the original's $395 price tag, but then we seriously contemplated selling a few prized possessions only to find they are completely sold out of the tortoise.

A mad hunt for a look-a-like ensued. Here's what we found - no direct knock-offs, but a close look-a-like! The thick, tortoise-like frame and shape are a close match. They look great on and much more expensive than $5.80 (until you hold the lightweight plastic). But most of our sunglasses end up lost or smashed in the bottom of our purse anyways! Available here.

A few years ago we bought a maxi dress when they were "super cool" - and everyone and their mom (literally here in this case) was wearing one. But a few seasons later and we just can't give up the maxi dress, even though they've had their day. That's when we realized that if we paired the maxi with a denim jacket or cardigan and belt, with jeweled sandals and pretty accessories - the maxi became current again.

Lately we've gotten quite a few requests to give the rundown of the make-up and clothing used in our latest spring line photos. On this mighty fine Thursday afternoon, we've decided to start with the makeup. We kept it very simple:

Bare Escentuals foundation:
NARS Blush in Orgasm (the name alone makes us blush):
Mac paint pot in Bare Study (it acts as a base shadow and keeps your liner and shadow in place all day long!):
Then we put a little bit of brownish/gold eyeshadow in the crease of the eye - sadly we don't have the name of this one. No eyeliner, we just layered on lots of DiorShow mascara:
We saved the lips for last since they were our favorite part - we used Make Up For Ever's #202, the perfect coral-y pink, available only at Sephora. We layered the lipstick with Revlon's Super Lustrous in Coral Reef - we got it from Target and have both been wearing it literally everyday since the shoot!

We love an easy (note: cheap) update to our current wardrobe - Burberry's "tan leather belt over anything" look does just the trick. Paired with trenches, ruffles and dresses, the rugged contrast of the leather gives just enough of an edge to many of our existing pieces feel fresh again.

We love what fresh flowers can do to transform a room, but sometimes you don't live in a magazine and have time to keep them around all the time - we think Flores del Sol has done a slam bang job of creating darling little arrangements incorporating vintage containers and using preserved flowers that are soft to the touch...not icky fake ones.
